Carb Solutions
The Carb Solutions demon commercials were a series of two commercials made for the health food brand Carb Solutions and aired in the spring of 2001. The two commercials were the subjects of several online posts made to lost media communities. At the time, the name of the company that had made the commercials was unknown. One variant, set at a baby shower, was found on April 26, 2021, while the other variant, set on an airplane, was found on June 5, 2022. The searches for both commercials primarily took place in the Lost Commercials Foundation Discord server.
Plot
Baby Shower
The commercial begins with a group of women sitting in a living room at a baby shower. Two women, one of whom is named Jeannie, are sitting next to each other on a couch. The unnamed woman offers Jeannie pigs in a blanket, which Jeannie declines because she's "on this whole low-carb thing." A separate woman remarks on how cute a baby blanket is. The woman next to Jeannie taps her on the shoulder and transforms into a demon. In a demonic voice, she says, "Not as cute as these pigs in a blanket! Come on, Jeannie. Ditch the diet." Jeannie says that she will just have a Carb Solutions bar. A shot of various Carb Solutions products at the baby shower appears on screen as a narrator talks about the company, closing with the tagline "It's good to be good."Airplane
The commercial begins with a female flight attendant walking down an airplane aisle and offering snack mix to passengers. A man declines, saying he is "watching his carbohydrates." The flight attendant continues to pressure the man, and then suddenly turns into a demon, saying "Come on! Take the snack mix!" and making a groaning sound. The man assures the flight attendant that he is okay drinking his Carb Solutions chocolate shake, and she continues walking down the aisle as he drinks the shake. Carb Solutions products appear on the flight attendant's cart as a narrator talks about the products, again closing with "Carb Solutions: It's good to be good."Airings
Despite both commercials having been found, there are only three known airings of the Carb Solutions demon commercials. The baby shower commercial aired on KXXV-25 in Waco, Texas on February 28, 2001, and on WBBM-2 in Chicago, Illinois on March 9, 2001. Both airings were during episodes of Entertainment Tonight, leading some to speculate that Carb Solutions was a sponsor of the program. The airplane commercial aired on WRGB-6 in Schenectady, New York on March 25, 2001 during the 1990 film Pretty Woman.Witnesses of the commercials also recalled seeing them on cable networks like Comedy Central, TBS, and TV Land.
The Search
Automaton made the Lost Media Wiki Forums thread for the commercial on October 18, 2020. The post was made in response to a Reddit post about the commercial made to r/tipofmytongue six days prior. The original post stated that the commercial had been seen in Texas in 1999-2000 by the OP's boyfriend's parents, who believed the commercial to be for candy.Automaton had remembered an older post from 2017 which was describing the same commercial, thus beginning the search. At one point, SnackWell's was believed to the brand the commercial was for. The search briefly had a channel in the Lost Media Wiki's Discord server. In January 2021, the Lost Commercials Foundation Discord server was created, initially solely for searching for the commercial.
On April 24, 2021, YouTuber blameitonjorge mentioned the search in his video The Creepy "Hitogata" Japanese Commercial - Lost Media Case Files Vol 3 | blameitonjorge . This brought significant attention to the search and the server. Two days later, jphn, a user in the Discord server, found the baby shower commercial in a March 2001 commercial break, uploaded to YouTube in January 2011.
On June 5, 2022, dycaite found the airplane variant of the commercial in a March 2001 commercial break uploaded by Junkie's Tape Bin.
It is believed that there are no other variants of the commercial. However, there is another non-demon Carb Solutions commercial known to have aired in 2003 on Food Network, TBS, and Superstation WGN. Carb Solutions dissolved sometime in 2006.
